Women's Reproductive Health

Therapy services are provided for women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, pregnancy loss, infant loss, menopause, and reproductive disorders such as PMDD, PCOS, pelvic pain, and reproductive cancers.

Women's reproductive mental health is the connection between well-being and the female reproductive system. Reproductive mental health encompasses emotional challenges during hormonal shifts from menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause, as well as mental health impacts from reproductive events like infertility, miscarriage, or reproductive conditions.

Perinatal care: Pregnancy and the postpartum period are vulnerable times where interpersonal, physiological, and emotional changes occur. It is important for a mother to feel supported and empowered. Therapy focuses on support and empowerment; it aims to support the development of coping and communication skills to navigate this life phase.

Infertility care: Treatment for infertility involves managing intense emotions like anxiety, depression, anger, and grief. Therapy can help you navigate the loss of control and uncertainty through fertility treatments. It can also help you process identity loss and grieve the dream of parenthood or adding on to your family if you are ready to - or have to - end fertility care.

Pregnancy and infant loss: Having a miscarriage, stillbirth, or losing an infant are traumatic, painful, and abrupt life changes. Dr. Bergner can guide you with navigating intense grief, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Treatment focuses on common feelings associated with pregnancy loss, such as guilt, anger, loneliness, and self-blame.

Menopause care: Menopause is normal, but suffering alone is not. There are psychological treatments that are shown to help some individuals manage menopause-related symptoms. Treatment may also focus on stress reduction and interpersonal changes that occur around the menopausal years.

Reproductive disorders: Reproductive disorders such as PCOS, PMDD, pelvic pain, and endometriosis are emotionally, mentally, and physically taxing. Behavioral treatments focus on building awareness and skills to manage symptoms.
